The "Public Salubrity National Day" was decreed by the Congolese government every first Saturday of the month, in order to promote collective awareness of the environmental emergency and to involve citizens in improving the living environment in towns and villages. On this occasion, AERCO decided to launch a specific operation, called "SALONGO".

On Saturday 1st June, the city side of the fence of Brazzaville Maya Maya International Airport benefited from weeding and cleaning works to clean public spaces and roads. To reach this aim, AERCO has involved its employees, who have responded voluntarily and positively to the call of airport management.

This clean-up operation also involved AERDA (a company in charge of street cleaning in Brazzaville), which recovered all the garbage collected. A large part of ASECNA staff (ASECNA is the ANSP in the Republic of Congo) also contributed to this operation.

Many residents of the DIATA and POUDRIERE areas, who are part of the immediate neighbourhood of the airport, spontaneously joined the AERCO and ASECNA teams to help them and contributed to the great success of this operation. It was a real time of cohesion and mutual support among all the participants.

Through this "SALONGO" operation, AERCO is also proud to contribute to the essential fight against the proliferation of mosquitoes, the main vectors of malaria in Africa.
