Abidjan International Airport focuses on debris removal on the runway
22/06/2019
Managing Foreign Object Debris (FOD) on aircraft pavements used by aircraft for landing, take-off or taxi, is a daily challenge for every airport in the world.

Indeed, the ingestion of debris by an aircraft's reactor immediately puts it at high risk of an accident resulting in loss of life and property damage.

Aware of this situation, AERIA acquired a BOSS FOD in 2016 to clean aircraft parking stations, runway and taxiways.

This airport sweeper adapts to all terrain and all seasons and it is specially designed to collect debris with high efficiency.

After three years of commissioning this equipment, there have been practically no operational incidents related to the presence of FOD on the roadways.

Airlines now operate in a secure environment.

This innovation puts an end to the manual scanning that was tedious for all AERIA cleaning service agents.

All this contributed to the airport's certification in July 2017.

As a result, the Abidjan International Airport becomes the first African airport to implement this innovative technology.
