Sao Paulo Viracopos International Airport, located in Campinas, 90 km north Sao Paulo city and in Sao Paulo state, has experienced a huge increase in passenger traffic over the last seven years, reaching more than 9 million passengers in 2016.
This increase is largely due to the installation of Azul, an airline formed in 2008, which choose Viracopos as its principal base and hub, mainly with domestic flights.
Viracopos is also one of the most important airports for cargo traffic in South America, with an average of 250,000 tonnes a year. Elected in 2016, 2nd best cargo airport in the world.
Sao Paulo Viracopos airport aims to becoming the second international airport of Sao Paulo and being the 1st airport in South America
